History of Palace

Gurudwara Hargobindsar holds immense historical and spiritual significance for the Sikh community. The sacred site has been blessed by the footsteps of Sixth Guru Hargobind Singh Ji and Baba Buddah Ji, who visited the site of this gurudwara during their divine journeys. Their divine presence has made Gurudwara Hargobindsar a cherished place of worship and reflection.

Furthermore, Gurudwara Hargobindsar bears witness to a tragic event in its history. In November 1984, during the Delhi riots, the gurdwara became the site of a brutal massacre that claimed the lives of 29 dedicated sewadaars (volunteers) whilst acting in the line of duty, in the seva of Gurudwara and Guru Granth Sahib Ji. We remember their sacrifice with utmost reverence and ensure that their legacy lives on, inspiring us to promote love, peace, and harmony.

Today the sewadaars of Gurudwara Hargobindsar continue to follow the charitable example set by Sant Baba Gurmail Singh Ji and have taken their efforts beyond India’s borders. Gurudwara Hargobindsar acts as a beacon of hope and relief for Indians of all walks of life and background without any distinction.

On this momentous occasion, we seek to honor the life and teachings of Sant Baba Gurmail Singh Ji, whose selfless service and spiritual guidance continue to uplift countless lives. The birthday celebration will include prayers, kirtan (devotional singing), an insightful discourse on Sant Ji's teachings, and a communal langar where we embrace the spirit of equality and brotherhood.

Currently, this gurudwara is being managed by Gurudwara Hargobind Sar Welfare Trust under the chairmanship of Sardar Harpal Singh Dhaliwal Ji and large number of sangat. Recently,a new 121 metre-long hydraulic powered Nishan Sahib, the very first one in Delhi, was hoisted in Gurudwara Hargobindsar,G.T Karnal Road,New Delhi-1100036.
