Guru Arjan Sahib Ji was the fifth of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism , was born on April 15, 1563. He was the youngest  sons of Guru Ram Das and Bibi Bhani ji. Guru Arjan Sahib was married to Mata Ganga Ji and they had one child (Son)- Guru Hargobind.

Guru Arjan dev installed for the first time the holy Sikh scriptures, which at that time was called the 'Adi Granth', a major achievement. Now knows with Guru Granth.

Guru Arjan sahib built Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar (the gold was added much later).

Guru Arjan Sahib was the first Sikh Guru to be tortured (for 5 days) and martyred by muslims for his refusal to convert to islam.

On the occasion of Parkash purab of Guru Arjan dev ji,deepmala and firecrackers were set off at Harmandir Sahib. Devotees offer food, clothes and books etc to needy people.
