1. Bhai Daya Singh
The first of the Panj Pyare to answer the call of Guru Gobind Singh and offer his head was Bhai Daya Singh. The meaning of the term "Daya" is "merciful, kind, compassionate," and Singh means "lion".
• Bhai sahib was born as Daya Rum in1661 in Lahore (present-day Pakistan).
• He is the Son of Suddha and his wife Mai Dayali .
• He became a Sikh in Anandpur 1699 at the age of 38.
• Daya Ram gave up the occupation (shopkeeper)to become Daya Singh and join the Khalsa warriors.
• Bhai sahib was martyred at Nanded in 1708 at the age of 47.
2)Bahi Dharam Singh
The second of the Panj Pyare to answer the call of Guru Gobind Singh was Bahi Dharam Singh. The meaning of “Dharam” is “righteous living”.
Bhai sahib was born as Dharam Dasin in 1666 by River Ganges in Hastinapur, northeast of Meerut (present day Delhi) .
He is the Son of Sant Ram(father) and Bhai sahib married with (wife) Mai Sabho.
He is became a Sikh in 1699 at Anandpur at the age of 33.
Bhai Sahib was martyred at Nanded in 1708 at the age of 42.
3)Bhai Himmat Singh
The third of the Panj Pyare to answer the call of Guru Gobind Singh was Bhai Himmat Singh, meaning of “Himmant” is “courageous spirit”.
He was born as Himmat Rai on January 18, 1661, at Jagannath Puri , now’s in Orissa.
He is the son of Gulzaree and his wife Dhanoo .
He became a Sikh in 1699 at age of 36.
Bhai Sahib Ji was martyred at Chamkaur Sahib on 7 December 1705 at the age of 44.
4)Bhai Muhkam Singh
The fourth to answer the call of Guru Gobind Singh was Bhai Muhkam Singh.
He was born as Muhkam Chand on June 6, 1663, at Dwarka (present-day Gujrat).His father’s name is Tirath Chand and his wife Devi Bai .
He is became a Sikh at Anandpur sahib in 1699 at the age of 36.
Muhkam Chand gave up the occupation and alliance of his Chhimba caste to become Muhkam Singh and join the Khalsa warriors. Bhai Muhkam Singh fought beside Guru Gobind Singh and the Khalsa in Anand Pur and sacrificed his life at the battle of Chamkaur on December 7, 1705.
5)Bhai Sahib Singh
The fiveth to answer the call of Guru Gobind Singh was Bhai Sahib Singh.
He was born as Sahib Chand on June 17, 1663, in Bidar (present-day Karnataka, India) . his father’s name is Guru Narayana and his wife Ankamma Bai.
Sahib Chand gave up the occupation and alliance of his Nai caste to become Sahib Singh and join the Khalsa warriors at Anandpur in 1699 at the age of 37. The meaning of "Sahib" is "lordly or masterful."
Bhai Sahib Sigh sacrificed his life defending Guru Gobind Singh and the Khalsa at the battle of Chamkaur on December 7, 1705.
